X-Men: War - Round 3!

Welcome back to Round 3 of X-Men: War!

If you haven’t played before you can read about the origin of X-MEN: WAR here.

If you’d told me Professor X makes it to Round 3 and Deadpool doesn’t I would’ve called you liar. But that’s the beauty and the horror of the random draw — and honestly, once you get this deep in the rounds, nearly everyone is a ringer.

ANYWAY, let’s get into it.

As a reminder, while voting for Round 1 lasted three days — mostly to give everyone a chance to realize we were playing again — voting for subsequent rounds (if I don’t screw up the poll!) lasts only ONE day, so be decisive!

If you haven’t played before, the rules are simple — just keep reading and vote for your favs in each match, simple as that. And feel free to make your thoughts known in the comments, I’d say keep it civil, but we’ve literally never had a problem with that so I am UNCONCERNED. You do unfortunately have to be a paid subscriber to vote and comment.

Tomorrow when all the voting has been calculated I’ll deal out a new round with the winners of this round — in this case that’ll take us to the Semi-Finals. And we keep going until we have one triumphant X-Man to rule them all.

FIGHT 1: PHOENIX (RACHEL GREY) v JEAN GREY

Oh. So it’s like that. Right out of the gate, mother pitted against daughter, not cool, universe, not cool.

I think Jean has this, but I know there’s a lot of love for Rachel and Phoenix her power is undeniable.

FIGHT 2: MAGIK v STORM

I hate everything and everyone. I’m giving it to Storm. But I’m angry about it and WILL BE FOREVER. Why did you guys make me play this game!?!

FIGHT 3: SPIRAL v PSYLOCKE (KWANNON)

Okay, now we’re talking. GRUDGE MATCH. Kwannon maybe doesn’t have bad feels for Spiral the way Betsy does (or maybe she does? Unclear) and Spiral and Betsy WERE on a team for a while (Uncanny X-Force!) so maybe they buried all their hatchets, but this still seems fun to me. Also I think it’s an incredible fight. I dunno if Psylocke can handle all six of those arms, but I’m excited to find out. I’m giving it to Kwannon, but you get your money’s worth for this one, no doubt.

FIGHT 4: PROFESSOR X v WHITE QUEEN

For me it’s Emma and it’s not close. But I understand that may very well be controversial. As a sidebar, I can’t believe the Charles made it through and Magneto was knocked out! First time I’ve seen that I think.

FIGHT 5: WOLVERINE (LOGAN) v MULTIPLE MAN

I’m sorry, Jamie. I was rooting for you, man… er, mans!

FIGHT 6: POLARIS v ROGUE

I don’t think this is an easy fight by any means, but it’s impossible for me to not give it to my girl, Rogue. But I think on any given day, this could probably go to either of them. It kinda feels like whoever makes a mistake first will lose, y’know?

FIGHT 7: DOMINO v WOLVERINE (LAURA)

Here’s what I love about Domino right now. I messed up her poll in the previous round and so it closed after only one hour… with her beating Gambit by one point… feels kind like LUCK POWERS AMIRITE?

And THEN. She won in the new Gambit poll by… one point. Girl is driving hard to the luck hoop man, does she have any left for Laura?

I dunno. I don’t think she can take Laura. Like… if she can, are we just saying that luck power is basically undefeatable? Because Laura, like Logan, is sorta undefeatable thanks to powers/experience/temperament/etc… I think we eventually have to draw a line with the Luck power, it can’t take you ALL the way… right?

Okay. That’s it.

From here we’ll end up with only 4 Matches — so that will be the “Semi-Final” I suppose. BUT since there are 7 matches here and that’s uneven — ONE of the losers who performs best in their match will also advance. Just when you thought you were out! ;D
