You're welcome! Figured we could all use a bit of a break.

Wow, everybody really hates Cable. Harsh.

I can't believe Laura beat Wade 84-16. Deadpool is funny, but nobody likes him.

Magneto lost? He is not going to like that.

Jean beats Phoenix. How the hell did this even happen? RNG is a bitch.

Magik beats Storm. When you control a dimension of hell, weather doesn't matter. Also... buster sword > cape.

Psylocke beats Spiral. I was tested to see how much I liked six arms, and I was found wanting.

Emma beats Chuck because women are better than men.

Logan beats Madrox. I imagine it will take a long, long time.

Rogue beats Lorna, but I bet it was a good, long fight. If they fight like next to a jungle gym or car factory.

Laura beats Domino. There was a board game with a character named Lucky, and you flipped over numbers to see if his luck had run out. Eventually, the luck runs out. When you're a Weapon X, you can do this all day.

Maybe they just really love Magik? (That's certainly the case for me).

"I was found wanting" lol

Yeah, that's my thinking too on Laura/Domino.

oh well, looks like Domino's luck ran out with the voting after all.

It pained me to vote against Team Luck, but i admit that Longshot vs. Laura is a different kind of fight than Domino vs. Laura.

Longshot has more powers, better tech, and genetically engineered to fight in an arena in the Mojoverse

Domino is awesome and a total badass, but she's also, she's a mostly human merc that gets super lucky.

My thoughts exactly on Magik vs. Storm

1000% agree about fight #2-love them both so much....and they BONDED in the 80s miniseries 😭. Tough draw. Also, I think the unhinged Charles takes Emma unfortunately 😕. Loving this game, maam!

Right now this is exactly 50/50. Has there ever been a tie?

I honestly can't remember if we've had a tie before? Too tired to check, but it's possible. Definitely some super close matches.

My girl Laura might be in her last round. Unless she gets really lucky with the bracket. There are some heavy hitters and much as I want her to go all the way, I just don't know that she makes it against a telepath

Kelly Thompson's avatar

You're not wrong. Messing with Laura's mind is definitely a good approach. White Queen and Jean or Rachel in the final are tough matches. But I feel like with telepaths it's true for everyone right? Unless they go up against each other, it's a real bitch of a power.

Admittedly a minor stretch but...Despite her ascension to super-ultra-omega or wherever Storm is now I think Magik could take her. A full on Darkchilde/Queen of Limbo (sorry, Maddy) Magik has at least an even chance. And if she is pissed at Storm for taking out Cyclops in round two that'll be enough motivation to win. Probably. Maybe.

Haha. Well, I hope many think like you... because I'd much rather see Magik take the vote with Storm close and get into the Semi-Finals even if she loses (because right NOW that's looking like Professor X. Boo.)

Great matchups. Lots felt like they could truly go either way.

I gave it to Jean Grey but I think it’s a squeaker. I gave it to Storm over Magic, too, but OOF. That’s a tough one!

I think Spiral wins with the classic, “Hey, look over there!” stratagem and points in four different directions while putting a magical whammy on Psylocke with her other two hands. (This is a joke, but I really did give it to Spiral, for some reason.)

I liked voting for White Queen over Charles. Given the fact that I, too, am a follically challenged individual, I’m not sure what that says about me. I just think she has the will and the Machiavellian approach to be the last one standing. In this fight, at least.

Polaris v Rogue and Domino v Wolverine are great fights. Could Wolverine v Wolverine be coming up in the next round? OR THE ONE AFTER THAT? We shall see!

Oh god. I so don't want a Wolverine v Wolverine final! Ahhhhhh.

Oof...almost all of my picks are going down. No Magik, no Rachel Summers, no Domino...White Queen, bring it home!

Rachel vs Jean is just evil. This would all depend where they are in X-Men continuity.

My thought process...

Rachel as Phoenix would defeat Jean from that same era. Rachel's done things with her abilities no one else, not even Jean, has done.

In current era, it would be Jean, but context could affect both of their choices. Rachel as Askani and the daughter of the Phoenix (finally being acknowledged on the pages)... We haven't seen her full potential yet, and kids are supposed to surpass their parents..😅

Ultimately, modern Jean and modern Rachel... I think they'd talk it out. Rachel's gained wisdom and isn't as impulsive as she used to be. Jean's also wiser.

While I don't disagree, I also know they're not allowed to "talk it out" here. ;D

I think your assessment is probably bang on, you definitely have more knowledge on Rachel than I do (maybe on both of them).

(Deflecting) They talk it out mentally while physically appearing to fight.

(Seriously) But yeah, it would then line up with what I said. Rachel as Phoenix would defeat Jean from that era.

Modern Jean Phoenix would defeat modern Rachel as things currently stand. I added this last bit because Rachel's Phoenix heritage provides her with considerable room for growth.
