Yeah. I'm not gonna lie. It's been really hard to lose it. It's maybe my favorite book I've done for Marvel. I think we've done the best possible thing we can do given the circumstances, but it's hard. It was a dream book for me, with a dream team. And those things don't just happen every day.
So I’ll let you in on a secret too- I’m not a big Natasha fan.
I don’t dislike her, but I’m an X-dude so I don’t gravitate toward too many Avengers (besides Carol, love Carol)- but I saw you were getting the Widow book and I gave it a go.
And shit.
I’m so glad I did. I absolutely love it, and I know it’s sad, but if it makes you feel happier, you made a Widow fan out of this guy.
So there’s small wins all around I suppose. And bigger wins to come! Even if tying your shoes could lead to a bad back for the next 5 days... I get it. I make the same groans daily to my wife’s amusement.
Man... super bummed about Black Widow. Always one of my first reads when it comes out. Got my LCS hooked on it too so we’ll all be down in the dumps tomorrow. Hopefully plans of some sort of a continuation come to fruition. Really liked her little team that was forming and honestly, easily, my favorite costume she’s ever had. Also hope those tight deadlines will come and go with ease, always looking forward to Kelly Content of all kinds!
It'll be a while. I just started the scripts. I'd say late summer or early fall maybe if Marvel wants to wait for a bunch to be done before they start them up again. But it's largely up to Gurihiru's schedule. <3
It was a tremendous issue to wrap up on at least! You did so much with it. You gave Nat a terrifying new nemesis in The Living Blade (great title also). And I really really dug the Twins! I hope we see them again somewhere. That whole shared mass and shared identity concept makes them really unique and fascinating. Loved Nat's tender moments with both Clint AND Bucky! Dug the ASL panels! Loved the circular action sequence. Gonna miss Lucy! And Yelena! ... yeah now I'm just making myself more bummed out! 😭 I hope more people check it out in trade, because they really missed out!
Awww sucks that you're dealing allergies 🤧 (but oddly comforting that Carol is too? Feels humanizing honestly). And that's a shame about Black Widow 😔😔. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I was really loving your run. Can't wait to see what else you can give us for her though, and for Carol, and anyone else we currently don't know about. Good luck with those deadlines!

What a *fantastic* series it’s been - Thanks to everyone involved. I’m randomly extra emotional about this as yes, it was a *great* series but somehow, in the early aughts of COVID, a variant of #1 was one of only a few comics that delivered relatively on time despite the shipment delays. I was *desperate* and grabbed it just shorty after I’d been sent to work from home effective ‘till ‘whenever’ (Aka who knows when?) ...Fast forward almost two years to the day I picked up that issue, and the final issue comes out the week I’m back in the office. The timing was/is interesting to me universe-wise. It started when life stopped, and it stopped when life started 🤔🤷🏼♀️
Anywho, sorry for the tome - Natasha and Yelena FOREVER! :) Here’s hoping *fingers crossed* for more.
Cryptic behind the scenes drama? Better than lack of sales I guess, but ultimately I'll miss reading your Widow book VERY much. Definitely my favorite of your current crop of books. 😭
Sales, especially since the pandemic are even less transparent than usual (and many months behind) so it's harder than ever to gauge this stuff (for me, I can't speak to Marvel). Our numbers could have been better, we were definitely in the danger zone for the last couple issues that I see posted.
But thank you for reading. I hope we'll get to do a bit more. <3

I was reading Widow religiously on unlimited. I'm hopeful that y'all will be back, as the book was fucking dope.
