I know nothing about PPG but here’s an inspirational story: when I worked at Toys R Us circa 2002, a little girl (5?) came in with her mom and wanted a particular Bubbles figure. I found it for her and gave it to her and she gave it a big hug - it still inside its plastic figure packaging - and said “I love you, Bubbles.” So cute ☺️
Ahhhh congrats on the new boom Kelly! Back to Birds, I love how you and the team thought of a fun and creative way to weave in the different artists so they make sense for the story when the style changes. Gives both an in world and (without for a better term) our world context to the visual changes and it’s just super clever. Been loving it so far! 💙
And thank you! Comics are so tough to make and they're such a unique medium with so many cool advantages (and disadvantages that you can turn on its head) that I really like to play with that stuff. I know not everyone enjoys it to the same degree (playing with form/experimenting with narrative devices/etc) but I really think it's worth it. And especially when you find yourself in a corner, sometimes you gotta get creative to get out. ;D
I never thought anybody would ask me, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if Kelly wrote the Powerpuff Girls?" but my answer is "HELL YEAH!" The BoP stuff sounds amazing. I like it when the artists change for a story reason. The covers are incredible.
I remember her!! She used to buy you Archie comics from the grocery store. I love my mother but she’s the reason I didn’t consume a lot of media till I was an adult and much of today’s stuff there’d be no chance of back then.
I'm curious, if you know, will the Powerpuff Girls covers be printed on card stock? Dynamite has been doing that a lot lately, but not always, hoping yr new books will be similarly deluxe! ;) either way, I'm very excited for you!!!
