This is mostly a post about thanks.
I’ve got a whole list here of cool shit you guys have done to make my life better lately and I’m feeling pretty grateful, so wanted to take a moment to say it.
First up, a bunch of you reviewed Black Cloak Volume 1 on Amazon after I mentioned it a couple weeks ago and it has been a great help.
Some of you bid (and a few of you even won!) the Ebay Auctions I put up over the weekend to help me battle the mundane and yet nefarious TAX MAN.
A bunch of you also placed store orders — all of this helps and you are all so incredibly cool. Thank you. Also, all orders placed before today (including the Ebay auctions) have been shipped as of yesterday. Yay!
AND I drew today for September’s Yearly Backers Winner. Our big winner this month is:
BILL! (but we have a few Bills — so for clarity, it’s: wjcain@EMAILREDACTED) ;D
Bill, you have won the 6th of the “help me fight the tax man” sketch covers (see below) and a few other cool signed books and swag. Since I already have your address from previous orders, I’ll go ahead and get this package out to you by the end of the week! THANK YOU! And to any of you that wish YOU could be winning that package — consider subscribing, or upping your pledge to the YEARLY level and you too will be entered to win these monthly packages — we still have 10 more to go!
So, the Ebay thing this weekend was interesting. I was incredibly impressed and grateful for all your bids, but I was a little shook by the changes at Ebay since I last sold anything there (it’s been a while). The fees for each item were incredibly high AND Ebay is holding all the money they’ve received from the buyers — until confirmed delivery. I can understand that — certainly protecting buyers is something I value — but I didn’t expect the delay.
You’re probably asking yourself right now — why is Kelly rambling on about this and why do I care?
Well, the delay (and fees to a lesser degree) does affect you too as it means that I will be moving up a couple additional rounds of Sketch Variant Covers.
I was planning to do some October-themed ones to sell toward the end of the month (but now I will move that up to mid-month) and some Holiday/End of the Year ones that I was going to sell toward the end of November — which will probably happen in mid-November now. So, if you missed out on this Ebay auction there WILL be at least two more auctions this year.
I’m also considering putting a few of these up in my shop. It would still be a pretty big $ tag but at least it would add some fixed pricing for those that are fast/get there early? I’m open to suggestions if you guys have any ideas about how to do this. I am trying to raise money here, so I can’t ignore the bottom line, but I’m happiest when this kind of stuff lands with the people who really love and appreciate it, so anything I can do to make that happen is good.
BIRDS OF PREY #2 released yesterday and we’re getting a terrific response (again) — and I thank you all for your part in that — telling people about it, sharing on social media, putting it on your pull lists — it all helps and means a lot. <3
You can find it anywhere good comics are sold. And if you don’t have a shop you can easily access you can also find it digitally on comixology/etc. [I also have copies of both issue 1 and 2 in my webstore if you’d like a signed copy].
What good is a thank you post without some SNEAK PEEKS?
From THE CULL #3, out 10/11/23 — art/colors by Mattia De Iulis, letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou:
From IT’S JEFF: SEASON 3 (on Marvel Unlimited) - begins in October: art here by Nao Fuji:
From BIRDS OF PREY #3, out next month — 11/7/23: art by Leonardo Romero, colors by Jordie Bellaire.
I don’t know if this counts as a thank you or punishment — but I made a new CONNECTIONS! — this one is hopefully a bit easier than the last? Give it a try and let me know in the comments if you were able to get it!
Also, for those of you that played last time — would you like me to post the answers to the last one after some reasonable amount of time has passed?
The people will decide! Hurrah!
“No answers ever.” is wild by the way. lol
