X-Men War!
By popular demand, an all-new shuffle and deal for #X-MenWar — let’s get right into these match ups!

We got some really great “grudge matches” here that I’m excited to see. A few of the match ups are weak, but mostly I think this was a great shuffle. I did cheat on ONE set (well, two since to break up one pair I had to match them with others)…but it was only in the interest of “Eh, we’ve seen this before.”
ROUND 1: MAGNETO vs JEAN GREY
Starting right in the shit, man! Yikes. I really dunno here. There are times in these characters “lives” that I feel like this would have been easy in one direction or another — but currently, this is a FIGHT AND A HALF. Not even sure how I’m gonna vote tbh.
ROUND 2: SIRYN vs WARPATH
Oof. Hate it when former lovers get the match up. I don’t know how it would hold up on a re-read, but I really wanted it to work out for Siryn and Warpath when I was a teen, but I may have just been susceptible to romance period at that point. ;D
ROUND 3: WHITE QUEEN vs PROFESSOR X
Boy, Xavier is just itching to beat another telepath! First it was Jean (who beat him), then it was Phoenix-Rachel (who beat him). How will Emma fare? Do the right thing, people!
ROUND 4: MYSTIQUE vs KYLUN
I suspect this is an even better fight than we realize. But Mystique’s clever-ness and willingness to do whatever it takes, often gives her the edge in my mind. I think she’d take this.
ROUND 5: BISHOP vs DAZZLER
Damn. Probably similar energy abilities. But Bishop can absorb a lot of her energy attacks and redirect that energy. More importantly, Bishop is a time traveling detective/cop and an X-Man whereas Dazzler is a pop star and part time X-Man…I think Bishop’s got the edge.
ROUND 6: MEGGAN vs HAVOK
Hrm. As much discussed here, I feel like Meggan is intensely underrated in general. But I also feel like Havok gets a raw deal a lot, so I’m conflicted.
ROUND 7: PSYLOCKE (KWANNON) vs MULTIPLE MAN
Multiple Man’s powers are honestly incredible and if he’s smart and creative…absolutely devastating. But there are very few people I’d bet to win against Psylocke.
ROUND 8: DOMINO vs LONGSHOT
OMG. I have been hoping for this one since our first round! Now I don’t even know what to do!
ROUND 9: QUICKSILVER vs FERAL
Sorry, Feral. I hate writing speedsters. You know why? They SHOULD be borderline unstoppable. Night-Night, Maria.
ROUND 10: DEADPOOL vs CABLE (OLD)
Woof. A fight we have seen before and will see again. Definitely one where I feel like it should be close and the smallest circumstances that day could tip it one way or the other. Thanks to not really being able to die…I give the slight edge to Wade. But this could go either way on any given day, right?
ROUND 11: ROGUE vs MAGIK
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ROUND 12: GAMBIT vs NIGHTCRAWLER
Oof! Another tough one. Also, sorta weird that my babies (Gambit/Rogue) got paired with the two teleporters. Both great fighters, both very agile/quick. A good match up in that regard. Remy certainly has the edge on energy projection power, but teleportation is such a tricky thing to fight. I’m giving it to Gambit, but I think this will (and should be) close.
ROUND 13: ICEMAN vs CANNONBALL
This is interesting. I think if Bobby gets smart and creative with his powers, he can take Sam, as his powers are more flexible and vast in general. But Sam is a pretty good strategist…I think Bobby’s gotta work real hard to take this?
ROUND 14: BEAST vs FORGE
Yes! Finally! Brain v Brain! Although…now that I got it, I’m not sure which way to vote. Eeep.
ROUND 15: SUNSPOT vs STRONG GUY
I guess this comes down to how invulnerable we believe Guido is. If Roberto can pummel him for a long time at peak/near peak energy/power…then all Guido has to do is get in one good punch to knock Berto out…but I dunno, I think maybe Guido can’t take Berto at full power for long.
ROUND 16: SHADOWCAT vs COLOSSUS
Wow. Another ex-lovers match up. I feel bad becuase I keep voting against Piotr…but Kitty takes this pretty easy, right?
ROUND 17: JUBILEE vs BOOM BOOM
Oh! This one is interesting! This would be a great fight!
ROUND 18: POLARIS vs CAPTAIN BRITAIN (BRIAN)
I think Lorna has this one. But I feel like a dick about it for some reason?
ROUND 19: SHATTERSTAR vs ARCHANGEL
This is a good fight too. I’m not sure which way to go here to be honest. I feel like they have different strengths…sorta?
ROUND 20: CYCLOPS vs STORM
Oh damn. I mean, we saw this way back in the day, that a powerless Storm beat a powered Cyclops. And then there was some “sorta retconning?” thrown onto that win. And A LOT has happened since then. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cyclops as a character and leader…but it’s almost impossible for me not to vote for Storm in almost any match up. She’s such a great character and such incredible power. I love her.
ROUND 21: BANSHEE vs LILANDRA
Banshee. Unless we’re in space…? ooooh. A wrinkle!
ROUND 22: CERISE vs WOLFSBANE
Omg. Does my girl finally have a chance in one of these. CERISE! CERISE! CERISE!
ROUND 23: WOLVERINE VS PHOENIX (RACHEL)
Oh well, this one’s just FUN. ;D

I feel like teleportation is under-rated, especially combined with stealth (aka Nightcrawler). Unless a character can fly: grab, teleport somewhere high, let go, and teleport to safety.
Professor X and Cyclops are both under-rated at this stage. Cyclops is one of the most experienced fighters in superhuman combat in the MCU and knows the personnel on the X-Men backwards. Seems like he’d be a tougher draw than folks give him credit for.
Professor X is allegedly the most powerful telepath on the planet. Jean is tough draw for him, because she is both telepathic, telekinetic, and as experienced as Scott. Any other telepath should be a quick out.
I was really surprised in the Magneto vs Jean Grey fight. This is Jean Grey without Phoenix powers, right? And Magneto has that helmet her psi-powers don’t work on him. She’s not the best at telekinesis from what I remember.
I don’t know. I think she’d get destroyed.
