Hello! I missed you! It’s probably not cool to say that, but…secret’s out, I’m not cool. I mean, I sort of am, but in that way that cats are cool. You know what I mean? They’re sort of bored and disinterested and sleepy all the time…which makes them appear above it all and thus…kinda cool. But really they’re just tired and self-focused. Yeah, that’s me. Less cool and more just an asshole. Just like cats.
Great newsletter! also, just in case no one else answered (which of course they did, I am a touch late to the game on this, and you are a highly popular and acclaimed writer with a large following of devoted fans and I am just some guy reading a newsletter on a friday instead of doing my job) BUT you did the whole conversation through images thing in Rogue & Gambit #2. I freaking loved that series, and that (along with West Coast Avengers of all things) convinced me to dig into your work, actually including heart in a box! which is also quite good... so yea. at least I have let you know how good your stuff is when inevitably someone else got the answer like right away or something...?
Kelly you KNOW I know it's got to be from Rogue and Gambit! My absolutely favorite comic book EVER because they're my favorite characters of all time and that was the most beautiful story anyone has ever given them! 😭 I miss you writing them so much! That scene with their argument all displayed out in bubble images is everything, especially for an old timer like me.
I definitely need to get my mits on HIAB now. Thanks for sharing your process. 😍
Question - Since you write so many pets in your stories, have your IRL kitties ever inspired any particular story beats?
I won't know the issue... But I'm going to guess Jem and the Holograms? That is such a creative way to show the past rather than just filling a page with words. If Jem is correct, hopefully someone with the issue can identify it and get the prize!
Btw, I am going through your current run on Captain Marvel and love all the costume changes. I love how in this run and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl both characters had a wide range of outfits.
