The above question is either a joke or rhetorical…I know why it’s hot. Please don’t answer it.

So yeah, CAPTAIN MARVEL is back TODAY. After one painfully long skip month due to the Heroes Reborns stories, Captain Marvel #29 has finally been released TODAY!

THIS WEEK!!!

You saw the thing I just said about Captain Marvel #29 being out TODAY, right?

But also…what could this be??? HMMMMM. Some interesting looking twitter posts going up today from some interesting people…HMMMM INDEED.

YES. I WONDER WHAT THIS COULD BE.

OTHER TIMES!

Next week is the release of Black Widow #8 - 6/30/21. Very excited about this one. But to be honest I’m excited about all of them so…yeah. Here’s Adam Hughes’ terrific cover so you know what to look for next week - get ‘em before they’re gone - I’m tellin’ ya, this series got the heat now!

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Not exactly an announcement maybe, but this incredible Adam Hughes cover for Black Widow #11 got revealed today and I told you guys you were going to freak out. Isn’t it so smart and gorgeous? Damn. Plus look at those guns. All of them. Swoon.

SNEAK PEEKS!

These are getting a bit hard because a few things I’m working on are secret things, which is very fun but makes it sorta impossible to share details. But here’s a gorgeous little panel from Black Widow #8 next week:

And I love this simple one from Captain Marvel #30 out in July…Clayton’s lettering really helps nail that delivery:

WHAT I’M DOING!

Less time this week for watching things (lottttttta deadlines!) but we did watch Riders of Justice last week and were both really impressed by it. It presents sort of like a typical revenge movie (and it does have those elements) but the humor cuts through it like a knife and it also makes these wild narrative swerves that are totally unexpected and just WORK SO WELL. As a resut I think it was a much more emotional, moving, and surprising experience. It also heavily highlights one of my favorite themes - misfits finding each other/found familes - which honestly feels more important than ever these days.

Still from Riders of Justice.

We’re also really enjoying Top Chef Season 18 (Portland!) right now. I’d be watching it anyway as I love Top Chef, but it being set in/featuring Portland was really the perfect thing after a long horrible quarantine.

Oh. It’s not media…but I did also ingest the best damn Eggs Benedict in the city last weekend at brunch with some friends (thank you Olympia Provisions)! I should have taken a photo. Damn. Maybe next time. Although…next time expect photos of LOBSTER ROLLS.

That’s right, I got Lobster Roll plans. Which are of course the best kind of plans.

CATS!

This is an unusual early photo of the boys. It’s got big album cover vibes…although they’d be even stronger if Clive’s eyes were open. Ears too big for their heads. Little sassy looks. So cute. I love them so much.

Clivey and The Monarch working on their album cover game.

Well my lambs, that’s it. Next week we’ll be back on our Tuesday schedule I hope! In the meantime, read more comics and be good to each other.

Kelly, a Q for Q & A: as a researcher, I’d love to know more about the research process. I assume Marvel gives you electronic access to any past issue you want? When developing a story, what’s a typical amount of hours you have to put in? Does Marvel help you in any way to help direct you to relevant past issues or make sure you’re not missing something? Thanks!

This issue of Captain Marvel was amazing!!!!!! I’m hyped about the whole name for the next arc too! THE LAST AVENGER has been my favorite arc so far and I’m HYPED to see some essence of it coming back, getting more of Dark Captain Marvel and all that!

I’m so curious to see what’s cooking for that new Spider-Man story and how you’ll be involved in it!

Speaking of Spidey 🙈 so, one of my favorite (if not my favorite) Carol friendship is her friendship with Peter Parker. I miss those times when they used to interact a lot back when was Ms Marvel… any chance we would see him in this current CM run? Like I love the crumbs of Carol having a Spidey magnet on her fridge and Spidey being on her nightmare but like a small team up or something 🥺 my second fave friendship is her friendship with Wolverine so I was so excited when you brought the whole poker night back!

Anyways, it’s great to see you are booked and busy! You deserved it so much!
