Mmmm. Omnibus-y

1979semifinalist.substack.com

Quick post today to show off my CAPTAIN MARVEL OMNIBUS which arrived in the mail late last week.

It’s truly gorgeous.

So this is out on 5/31/23 and is like $100 or something crazy — but it’s BIG and beautiful and collects the first 26 issues of my CAPTAIN MARVEL run, plus my CAPTAIN MARVEL: THE END story AND my STAR mini-series. So a lot of great content packed in here. Obviously some people love omnibi and some are not so into it… but if you ARE into it and enjoy my CAPTAIN MARVEL run, I’d encourage you guys to pick this one up — if only so we can ensure that we get a Volume 2 collecting the rest of the run through issue 50!

Jorge Molina book jacket cover
Very cool Captain Marvel The End art on the actual book cover — art by Rahzzah
An interior spread — art by Carmen Carnero, colors by Tamra Bonvillain, lettering by Clayton Cowles
Back cover of book jacket — gorgeous art by Jorge Molina.

I’m so glad they went with that Jorge Molina art for the back of the book jacket — that’s one of my favorite covers from our whole run — and definitely my favorite Molina cover — so cool.

Anyway, this is the first time I’ve gotten something collected like this and I have to say, it feels pretty great. But I couldn’t have gotten here without all of you supporting me — so this feels like a win for all of us. Thank you.

Slightly related, Sergio Davila, the incredibly talented artist that did our CAPTAIN MARVEL Last of The Marvels arc and our final Revenge of the Brood arc, has an art book out. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one (and he made me a gorgeous Rogue sketch!)

So if you do the art book thing, keep an eye out for Sergio’s, it’s very cool. Here’s a video of him showing it off and more details about where to find it.

And last but not least… we got (in addition to some lovely reviews) some nice mentions for both BLACK CLOAK #5 and CAPTAIN MARVEL #49 on Inside Pulse this week.

It’s hard to keep up enthusiasm for an indie book that’s doing well, but is still struggling to find all the readers that I know would love it, so it really means a lot when reviewers, op-ed/essay folks, and fans keep talking about it on social and in real life. So THANK YOU! (and don’t stop!) ;D

Oh wait, THIS is last but not least. ;D

Clive in his happy place… on a heating pad.

We’re currently having a quite unpleasant heatwave in Portland, but this is a shot from a month or so ago when Clive’s happiest thing ever was being splayed out on the heating pad.

Okay, I have to get back to work, but be good to each other — and if you’re in Oregon — don’t forget to turn in your ballot — due today!

~Kelly

Can’t wait to get one in hand. Omni’s are tough to read sometimes- but they look so good on the book shelf! (Also really nice for research if the interwebs are failing me!)

Congrats on a stunner. The series derserves it. Cap is this sneaky book that every month blows me away, even if mentally it’s not the “top of my pile”. You def deserve all the accolades that I read/hear- and can’t wait to see what that bounces into!!!
