I (apparently) had a spy in the audience (my good friend Ryan Hill) — who sent me some photos of adorable Gurihiru promo pieces they showed off to promote the new season. Ryan also said we got huge applause in the room for the announcement, which honestly makes me tear up a little. <3
I didn’t really see these images circulating on twitter, so sharing them here feels ALMOST like being at SDCC (no, no it doesn’t. but it’s still fun!)
To be clear — these are NOT images pulled from actual strips, but “promo images” created for the announcement. Though looking at them — I think it’s obvious they could ALL be amazing strips. I hope Gurihiru lets keep my job. GULP.
I’ve been dying to do one with some of the “pet Avengers” co-stars and was avoiding it for reasons I can’t divulge, but now, like the Spidey thing, I think maybe I can wait no longer!

Kneading those biscuits, just like any great cat does. ;D
So yeah, I love writing this book, I love doing it with Gurihiru. They probably don’t need me, to be honest, but I hope they keep me around for a while as it’s a big joy in my life, especially in these darker times. We didn’t win the Eisner this past week, but even being nominated is such an honor, and one I never really even dreamed of for my boy. He’s come so far already!

I’m hard pressed to think of something that brings me more joy these days then getting a new layout of IT’S JEFF from Gurihiru. I obviously love the finished product too — but there’s something about the energy of the layouts — of first seeing my script brought to such adorable life — it’s pure joy in my email box every single time.
