This is awesome! Very happy holidays to you and yours, as well! Is there a way to check who else has a subscription to your Substack? I have someone in mind for a potential gift subscription but they're pretty likely to already be subscribed, so I wanna find out without having to ask them.

If you know their account you can click on it and it shows who they’re subscribed to, if that helps!

I don't know their account (or even if they have one, really) but I'm such a Substack noob, every bit o' info helps. Thanks!

Hmmm. Yeah, Damon is right, if you know their profile you can typically see what they're subscribed to and there's a little symbol that denotes whether they're paying for a newsletter or are a free content subscriber. Another sorta sneaky way to check, is if you have ever seen your friend comment on this substack (post our 9/28 launch) then they likely have a paid subscription, as only paid subscribers can comment.

As much as I would love to look them up and let you know - because I'd love to help you give this gift! - my instincts tell me that is probably private information that I shouldn't share. I'm sure your heart is in the right place and your friend wouldn't mind, but I'm also sure you can understand not everyone has those same pure intentions, and so I think I have to err to the site of caution so that I'm not making rules for some and not for others, and say that I can't share that information. I'm sorry. :(

You’re right: my heart is pure and my strength is that of ten. (Ten asthmatic aphids, but still.)

I searched for my friend’s name on Substack and didn’t get any hits. But then I searched for MY name and didn’t get any hits, so maybe that’s not a feature Substack offers? For privacy reasons and whatnot? Anyhoo, I definitely don’t want to mess with anyone’s privacy, so I’ll just have to ask him. Regardless, thanks for your thoughtful, protective response! :)
