Thanks to everyone for playing the Black Cloak Creator Game — we had so many great entries — so many that when I saw an opportunity in the script to pick TWO winners instead of just one. As always a huge thanks to Meredith for these terrific designs.
Everyone, please meet Death Shard DINAAL created by reader Daniel Palomino and Sprite LEDRA created by reader Lodro Rinzler.
DINAAL is a Death Shard who goes by they/them. They have mastered the art of appearing busy, are afraid of math (who isnt?!), knows SOME karate and has a terrible sense of direction. They run the Front Desk as Kiros Supermax Prison.
LEDRA is a female Sprite. She is always ready to go out, would kill for a slice of cake, hates cold weather, and loves to bathe in the blood of her enemies (metaphorical of course. probably). Ledra is a “Prison Traveler,” meaning she handles security of moving the prisoners.
Dinaal and Ledra first show up in BLACK CLOAK #10 (out in November) AND because I’m running so behind in announcing this, I can even show off a panel — huzzah!
Congrats to the winners!
And not to break my own arm patting myself on the back, but this is truly one of my best ideas. Thanks so much for playing. Oh, and don’t forget to look for our first winner NYCILA who will show up again in next month’s BLACK CLOAK 9 (in addition to her appearances in volume 1) in a small role. <3
Hayden and I did a truly insane amount of ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN PR this week — and I’m going to link to it all here even though it probably deserves its own post — fair warning, despite our best efforts, there’s a lot of overlap in the materials — but there IS also a five-page colored (unlettered) preview with most of them as well — so give one or two of these a look if you’ve been anxious for more ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN teasers and haven’t seen them floating around social media yet.
FOC is Monday 9/30 and I am confident this will sell out — so if you want on board for a first printing I would definitely call your shops.
And most of this image has popped up on the internet, so let’s just get it up here in all its (slightly lo-res) glory.
NEWSARAMA Interview & Preview (looks like these guys only have three preview pages — but at least the last page has the correct colors). But I admit I think Will got some of the most interesting answers out of us!
CBR Interview & Preview (Brian asked great questions and got good answers out of us, but I judging from this I talked a lot of over Hayden, which is pretty embarrassing — apologies Hayden!)
AIPT Interview & Preview (while this interview with David Brooke is great and worth the read — heads up that there’s something wrong with the first page of their preview — and they also have an old color page for the final page of the preview — which has now been updated).
COMICBOOK (this includes a lovely interview with Matthew Aguilar and an easier to read preview — in my opinion — their page one is correct unlike AIPT but like AIPT their last page has incorrect colors (comics are fun guys. lol))
I also did, in advance of the push this past week, a couple podcast interviews that you guys might dig — one by Fellow Substack Reader Damon @ Agents of Fandom.
And this one by Tommy @ World at War Podcast — my first time there and it was a delight.
And Hayden did a terrific interview focused on design over on SKTCHD.
Okay, back to the writing mines. More soon. I hope you all have glorious or lazy weekend plans — or perhaps both.

What an incredible honor. I will now shelve all previous honors of my life and when I want to brag to friends / my progeny I'll simply say I am in a Kelly Thompson comic. "As yourself?" they might ask. "As Ledra the Prison Traveler sprite who will kill you for a piece of cake," I will flatly reply. Thank you to Kelly and Meredith; I am truly touched.
oh snap!! this awesome lol
Thank you, Kelly & Meredith!!
