Brian K Vaughan did an awesome post over on his excellent Exploding Giraffe Substack featuring THE CULL #1 and a fun interview with yours truly.
It also of course features new pages from his and artist Niko Henrichon’s fantastic SPECTATORS comic — and if you’re not already following along, you definitely should take this as your moment to get on board!
We also let Exploding Giraffe debut Mattia’s gorgeous FOUNDERS ONLY cover — which is extremely rare and will be signed and numbered by Mattia and/or me — Founders Backers from our first year will get two copies of this as part of their original package — and after they’ve all been received I’ll have others available in the webstore (like we are currently doing for the BLACK CLOAK #1 Founders Variant).
Anyway, what really matters is look how gorgeous this is!
So, you won’t see this clean dress cover on stands, but if you love it and really must have it, we’ll have them in the shop by late August I hope and Mattia will probably have some at cons and signings and such if you’re lucky enough to find him out there in the world!

As THE CULL is inspired by Cannon Beach — and specifically their very famous Haystack Rock (most of you probably know the area/landscape best from the movie GOONIES) — it was hard for me in my magical thinking brain to not take this as a sign or omen… it was just too weird!
Basically: THE CANNON BEACH COUGAR CLEARLY WANTS YOU TO PRE-ORDER THE CULL #1… DON’T LET HIM DOWN. ;D
