Okay, I’m sorry I’ve been away (lots of deadlines mostly, a rough summer overall tbh) but I’m going to try to keep this one quick pretty quick and do a more involved post next week and catch us up on every damn thing.
So we’re mostly gonna just get into what’s going on with my Dynamite BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL books and see a bunch of sneak peeks from upcoming books. But real quick up front I need to do a store update since it’s been closed and is now re-opened. Huzzah!
The store has re-opened! Finally. The Paypal issue was actually sorted quite quickly but I knew my schedule was terrible this month, so I opted to just keep it closed until the new ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #23s came in. Those, and some JEFF: SUPERSTAR #2 came in yesterday and so I’ve updated the shop and re-opened it.

Two things — I didn’t get any JEFF: SUPERSTAR #2 comps (but I did buy some and put them in the shop) — but somehow the Tokitokoro variants didn’t show. I’ll try to rectify, but right now there are none available. Also the GORGEOUS Putri variant of ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #23 is all white on the upper left side and it’s created some light visible damage on those. It’s not much but I wanted to note it.
OH! I also wanted to flag for any of you that have the scratch for original art, that Mattia De Iulis has some gorgeous stuff up for sale, including these two pieces below — and his Bride of Frankenstein Lives #1 cover!
Okay. The BUFFY & ANGEL news. Let’s get into it!
Some of you guys surely noticed these books that were scheduled to begin in July and August…didn’t. And I’m sorry about that, I was under strict instructions not to talk about any of it until things were settled. And they’re not exactly settled (i.e. I cannot give you hard dates for the re-solicit) but some information has come out from Dynamite and I’ve been given approval to get into some of the exciting stuff that’s come about due to this delay.
I can’t talk about everything that has happened behind the scenes of course, but what I can say is that when I began doing promotion for these books, it became very clear to all of us that by linking the two books so closely and all circling around a huge change in the Buffy Universe, what I’d actually done was write AN EVENT BOOK.
And so we’ve decided to just lean all the way into that and call it what it already was -- a groundbreaking event to launch our new books -- an event that will change the Buffyverse forever.
Additionally, as I expressed to our editor Nate Cosby — because we have been so rigid about showing any interiors off — it almost feels like these books do not really exist — but the opposite is true! — we have A BUNCH in the can! I hope seeing a little bit from inside the books will reassure people that this is all very real. I have been working on it — as have Stephen Byrne, Giulia Giacomino, and Lee Loughridge — for most of this year. So there is a lot done. And we can’t wait to share it with you.

We’ll get there, and I hope you’ll all still be up for the ride. I’ve poured a lot of love into these guys — there was no other way to do it. I’m sorry the road has been a bit rocky (for me too!) but I hope it will all be worth the wait.
