So We've Been Busy
Look what they’ve done to my beautiful boy!!!
The Monarch had to have a small nodule removed from his nose (just above/between his eyes) and while the surgery went well generally, it was a loooooooong two weeks in a cone. He was very miserable and thus so were we. But he’s out. The news on the nodule is mixed. It is a tumor and they didn’t quite get it all (fun) but they claim that these tumors are usually a non-issue in cats. I don’t love the vagueness of that, but hoping for the best case, obviously. So probably what’s going to happen is we’re going to wait a little while and then he’ll go back in to see if they can get it all.
My beautiful sad frowny boy. He handled it very well, all things considered. Thank the oldest gods it wasn’t Clive because we’d be cut to ribbons and maybe some other things besides.
Anyway, as you can imagine, this event made life even more efficient, and I’m totally caught up. No. Wait. That’s not right. Reverse it. Yup. Everything is EXTRA messy.
Which is a convenient way to segue-way into saying I know a BUNCH of you are still waiting on your orders. I am so sorry. I hope everything delayed will go out by Tuesday — but cross ‘em if you got ‘em!
The Webstore remains open and IS updated with everything I’ve got on hand. But I WILL be closing the shop for the holidays, probably by December 7th, to make sure I can get everything shipped out well before the holidays. Something to keep in mind if you were hoping to pick anything up before the end of the year.
Last week — BOOM released an extremely cool looking Kickstarter collecting all of the IDW JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS run by yours truly, Sophie Campbell, Victoria M. Robado, Meredith McClaren, Jenn St-Onge, and many more.
These are pretty expensive books, but they’re also pretty spectacular looking oversized editions. And a lot of these trades (and floppies) have been out of print and/or impossible to find for a while now, so if you’ve had them on your wish list, this might be your moment. Sophie and I both signed a bunch of dual bookplates for some of these too if that interests you. So check out the campaign at the link above and see what it’s all about. BOOM also did this great graphic about what’s in each volume that they said I could share with you guys here:
I wrote everything collected here, except for the 4-issue “Dimensions” series and the 2 one-shots collected in volume 4.
If you’re looking specifically for Sophie’s work you’d need volume 1 and 2 (for her two arcs with me — “Showtime” and “Dark Jem”), and also volume 4, for her “Dimensions” work.
If you’re looking for Meredith McClaren’s work, you’d need volume 2, for the “Enter the Stingers” arc she did with me.
A preview here for the much anticipated ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #14. This is the first meeting of Diana and Zatanna so we’re all pretty excited. Stay tuned for the sneak peeks below for, well, another sneak peek of her. ;D
We also saw solicits this week for ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #17, including Hayden’s terrific Diana vs. Giganta cover:
I reeeeaaaallly like the Giganta fight scene in 17, and I hope you guys will too.
ALSO! We can finally talk about The Annual — which is 32+ pages of gorgeous Mattia De Iulis art. The story is about Diana trying to deal with “the intolerable Medusa situation.” Here’s Mattia’s phenomenal cover:
A round up of everything I’ve been up to — which is mostly work and interviews.
Hayden and I did a podcast with Tommy at World at War Comics:
I did an Interview with Sasha at Casually Comics. Apologies to everyone, Sasha especially, for my audio being so tinny (these are new headphones! wtf!) Guess I know what’s going on my X-Mas List:
I did also did a podcast interview w/ Damon from Agents of Fandom:
And a new one with Dom of X:
I also did an Interview with the Italian site Mega Nerd, which, if you read Italian…you’re in luck?
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN continues to dominate sales charts which is just insanely cool. Thanks to all of you for making that happen.
Some people…maybe ALL the people? loved Hayden’s Absolute Zatanna Design.
And look! I mean. WHAT.
Like, I cannot get over how good that is (by KnifeSchool). I wish it was an ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN variant cover! My god.
Love this one by jalen_hadnot as well:
And by ScarletRed616, love those hands:
And this is already happening. I don’t hate it! ;) Beautiful stuff by pepedraws:
This is fucking stunning. If she had pants this too could be a variant cover it’s so gorgeous. I’m gonna crop it as I’m not sure Diana would approve of the full being on display, but it’s some truly gorgeous work by Alerila_v.:
This one by Linnea V.J. — wow.
I love this super stylized Diana:
Ooh. And this one from divershineart:
Oh. And this incredible commission piece by John Timms:
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #14 (This Week!) by myself, Matias Bergara, Jordie Bellaire, and Becca Carey:
Time to bleed, Diana.
And another tiny peek at Zee!
BIRDS OF PREY #28 (Early December) by myself, Sami Basri, Vicente Cifuentes, Adriano Lucas, and Clayton Cowles. Boy oh boy do I already miss writing Canary (and Barda). It’s hard to say goodbye.
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #15 (Late December) by myself, Hayden Sherman, Jordie Bellaire, and Becca Carey:
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1 (February) by myself, Mattia De Iulis, and Becca Carey. For this one, I’m just going to go ahead and show you one glorious unlettered page:
So much good stuff coming up!
I figured it was only fair to end with a more distinguished photo of Monarch than the one that launched this post. And so here we have a distinguished gentleman in his natural habitat (with his brother’s feet on his back):
Hang in there everyone. <3
Kelly

I’m sorry about Monarch, Kelly. I’m going through something similar with Ogden.
Poor Monarch! 🥺
