That’s right, it’s a JEFF-STRAVAGANZA!* A celebration of all things Jeff The Landshark!
*I know the “S” is technically incorrect, but it sounds wrong without it, so let’s just deal with it!
And since we are now officially in JEFFTEMBER, it’s time to celebrate. How do we KNOW it’s Jefftember? Well, new IT’S JEFF begin this month. Also, all around the US everything is suddenly pumpkin spice flavored. And that now includes all-new PUMPKIN SPICE JEFF:
Your new favorite Jeff, your new favorite pumpkin spice. We’ve got it all.
SYNERGY!!!!
We may not have won our Eisner this year, but though it’s a cliche, I have to say, truly, it was an honor to be nominated. Never did I imagine our boy Jeff would hit so hard for so many people — it’s been a total joy. And there’s enough of a joy that this post became so overstuffed that I had to break it into TWO POSTS.
CBR ran a little piece a while back ranking the best Marvel Unlimited Comics and our boy Jeff took first place. And that is almost the same as winning an Eisner (haha, no, no it’s not, but it’s still real cool).
Before we dig in to all things Jeff, if you missed out on IT’S JEFF last year, you can read all 12 “episodes” by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited. And the new season (I believe with posts every week?) begin THIS MONTH.
The strips are mostly silent, illustrated by the legendary Gurihiru and I’m not just bragging when I say the strips are a lovely salve for dark times — and of course they’re extra perfect for young comic readers just beginning to understand the form.
Okay, back to JEFF MERCH MANIA. Let’s start with the official stuff:
THE FIRST OFFICIAL JEFF PLUSH has arrived. I repeat the FIRST OFFICIAL JEFF PLUSH HAS ARRIVED:
You can pre-order this guy from Sideshow Collectibles. He’s very cute. I hope — as we get more “Jeff Merch” the design will push more toward the Gurihiru “round boi” design as I think that’s probably easier/better for merch, but it’s fun to see something closer to the original design and it will be interesting to watch how/if this changes as Jeff’s star rises!
For example, thi FIRST official Jeff figure we ever got — which was a small “sidekick” figure with the Shiklah Action figure is very close to the original Daniele Di Nicuolo design. So it’s already fun to see that evolution.
You can also find this guy “loose” on ebay if you want a Jeff figure but are not big on Shiklah or care about pristine packaging — this one is $15! Which is…more than the two figures in the packaging — go figure!
I pre-ordered this next one and waited a long time for it to arrive. Totally worth it. Absolutely adorable Nendoroid Gwenpool and tiny Jeff sidekick:
And in the mostly (?) official category, Gwenpool and Jeff got to be special figures in the X-Men board game from C’Mon:
Pretty damn fun, right?
I was very lucky to be sent this super fun Jeff “Sport Bottle/Beach Cup” from the folks at Loot Crate for their Deadpool Merc Club — but it looks like you can pick one up on ebay if you must have it and missed out!
Also from the Deadpool Merc Club Loot Crate is this amazing t-shirt (that is unfortunately about 100 sizes too small for me — it SMALL, kids) — doesn’t make it any less cute or fun! This is what the fabric print looks like. You can find a few of these on ebay too it looks like!
Also! I was able to get my hands on the actual Gurihiru promo pieces from SDCC — I’d previously showed you some photos taken from the presentation where these images were shown — but they were a bit manipulated and shown out of order at SDCC I think — so it’s fun to see the images in order as intended. Please try to ignore the fact that it’s clear from this mini-story that Gurihiru probably doesn’t need me! ;D
So cute! But again, please, erase this from your mind, otherwise I’m gonna find myself unemployed! ;D
Let’s close up with a couple fun Jeff fan-arts/commissions/whatevers:
[NOTE: There WAS a Chris Bachalo piece here, but I removed it because it appears it was modified by someone online and didn’t originally include Jeff. Apologies to Chris for the error.]
Dramatic and lovely piece of Deadpool, Emma Frost, and Jeff, clearly inspired by our Deadpool #7 issue when Wade takes Jeff (and himself) to Krakoa. This piece is by Joel (Witchyboiii) colors by Rombutan:
Love the simple iconic look of this one — plus seeing Jeff in that royal cloak makes me weep that we never got the chance to do that in the book. SO CUTE! This is by Deviant artist Craneshard:
All right. Calling it for this installment. Next installment will include all sorts of fan-made merch I’ve found, been gifted, and bought — like this absolutely adorable crochet Jeff — my FIRST Jeff fan-merch, made by Tumblr user Orlissa!
Happy Friday, my lambs. I hope you have the weekend you deserve for getting through a tough week. Cuz all the weeks feel pretty tough these days. But hang in there, I’ve felt more hope recently than I have in a long time and I hope all of you have too.
Hold fast. <3
