Full-On Earnest
(uh oh)
I don’t have a clever opening here, and all my Valentine’s Day puns were weak as hell…so we’re gonna have to go full-on earnest here…gird them loins.
I just want to thank all of you guys for the incredible support. The response to this week’s ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1 has been incredible — the response on social media has been massive, but I also received a bunch of thoughtful emails. And it really moved me. When the phenomenal ABSOLUTE BATMAN ANNUAL #1 came out last year (read it now if you haven’t yet!) it was so effortlessly and wonderfully hardcore that I feared we had maybe gone a bit too “quiet” with our Annual. But I’m really pleased to see that there is rabid enthusiasm for both books, even though they hit on similar ideas and themes in very different ways. So thank you guys so much for having such thoughtful and enduring support for this book, it has blown me away. <3
After a really rough start full of missing shipping supplies and accidentally damaging some books (aaaahhhhh!) the orders were ALL shipped on Thursday.
Thank you guys SO MUCH for your patience — I tried to make sure everyone got some fun extras (stickers and a cool new Black Cloak postcard) — but I really appreciate everyone being so cool about the delays.
If you’re waiting on anything, please check your Paypal for tracking information.
Some of you are also getting partial refunds via Paypal — there are always a few in every batch — usually due to my own inventory mistakes — but this time, I had a pen leak during signing and I wasn’t aware of it and it bled on the interior signature on the contents page on some issues. If that happened to you book, I sent you the book anyway, but refunded the cost to you since it’s obviously now considered damaged.
The store has also been updated to now include the ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1 and also the ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN VOL. 2 trades.
HOWEVER, because you guys are so great, and ABSOLUTE so in demand, I’m already almost sold out of Annuals — I think I’ve only got 5 left (and no Sherman Wraparound Variants). So if you want one, be quick. That said, I went ahead and ordered some more, so I will do a small restock (of the Main De Iulis cover only) at the end of the month when I add ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #17 to the shop. So there will be a second chance there if you want to wait until the end of the month.
I’m also going to go ahead and limit all customers to no more than ONE of EACH variant on NEW issues (i.e. released this month) at this time, just to make sure more of you have a chance to get at least one copy. But if this is unfair and you guys want to riot in the comments, I’ll hear you out!
Unfortunately, all of my hardcover ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN VOLUME 2 trades were damaged in some kind of printing error (happened to a lot of the comps I hear). I’ve put them in my shop anyway — at a steep discount and clearly marked as DAMAGED — as some people like misprint/wrong printings — and I’ve frankly got no room for a bunch of extra copies of this on my shelf and I’d rather not toss them. The whole book IS readable, but there are several sections that are incredibly dark. So purchase with caution.
All of my soft cover trades look good, and are also available now.
And last but not least — a new Discount Code for February — only one use per order. Just enter DIANARULES at checkout for 22% off your order.
ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN is a Libby Award Finalist! We’re one of only two nominees in the Graphic Novel Category and the team is beside ourselves at this nomination. Thank you so much to Libby and all the readers!
Lovely piece about Absolute Diana from the folks at Den of Geek.
A nice little write up from Screen Rant about what a lovely spring my girl Diana is cued up to have, starting right now.
It was announced this week that most of the Absolute line are getting new printings — including ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #1 - #11. This makes for AWW #1’s EIGHTH Printing. Which I’m pretty sure is some kind of Wonder Woman record. I also saw just today that AWW #12 and #15 are also getting additional printings.
This is cool for Jeff fans everywhere waiting on great merch — although there is no link to actually pre-order so…only slightly cool?
In other non-AWW news…I wrote three issues of THE POWERPUFF GIRLS in 2024 and had an amazing time and wished I could do more — and those issues are getting a collected edition and I’m delighted.
Looks like my JESSICA JONES series with Mattia De Iulis (!) is also getting a collected print edition — seems to be collecting both BLIND SPOT and PURPLE DAUGHTER. I loved writing Jessica Jones, and this was Mattia’s and my first work together, so it’s particularly special to me — and his work is lovely as you can see below. This is out March 3, 2026.
Here’s one my favorite noir-y pages from the first issue:
Also in the volume will be one of my favorite images of Elsa Bloodstone ever. <3
Honestly, pretty excited this has happened. If we can get that Kelly Thompson ROGUE & GAMBIT collection and an oversized omnibus for BLACK WIDOW we will really be cooking, guys! This is the cover you should be looking for out in the wild:
The Absolute Wonder Woman fanart continues to roll in. I see great stuff every week that I can’t help but share. We’re spoiled for riches! A few of my recent favs below.
Super fun By Raria:
A cute Zee by Matias Bergara himself:
This might be for something official — from Belen Ortega — but worth sharing either way. Just gorgeous:
Love this style on AWW — super fun — from tiredsai (aka Mango):
Love this angular Diana that feels like a knife by Shirtaki:
I wish this had a correctly colored lasso, but otherwise this is gorgeous from itoscareme:
This one reminds me a bit of what an ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN meets BLUE EYE SAMURAI approach might be. This is by MatteoIlluminati:
Terrific energy in this Absolute Batman/Absolute Wonder Woman piece from Sodafungi:
I’m not publicly throwing my support behind any particular ship, but this is some truly gorgeous fanart by Marceline:
I’m gonna do two “One. Good. Thing.” today — largely because one of them is maybe not the way most people would process the word “good” — but I think it’s exactly the kind of horror fiction we need more of, especially given some of the real horrors of the world smacking us the face very publicly of late.
BLINK TWICE — the impressive directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz — is a terrific horror/revenge movie dealing with almost exactly the kind of Epstein shit that is all over our news (but with a small sci-fi twist). If you’re deeply craving some violent justice in all that you see in the real world right now, BLINK TWICE is a fantastic revenge fantasy and for me at least provided a nice outlet for some of that rage. Obviously it’s more ideal to pour your rage into more positive and helpful real world things, but we all need to an outlet…to be able to scream into the void for a bit and BLINK TWICE is some art that gave me that.
But as said, there is a metric ton of horror in it before you get to the sweet revenge, as it must always be in revenge movies, so not necessarily recommended for those who don’t want to go through that right now.
As a salve, here’s the non-traumatizing alternate ONE. GOOD. THING. this week — simple, charming, kind — just what I needed today, and surprisingly appropriate for Valentine’s Day:
Some of my favorite individual non-spoiler-y crops/panels from the ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1 that released this past week. Art and colors by Mattia De Iulis character designs by Hayden Sherman:
And from ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #17, out at the end of the month, art and designs by Hayden Sherman, colors by Jordie Bellaire:
One of my favorite small moments from the issue. lol:
AND a tiny peek at ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN #18 (March):
Throwback photo to the boys when they were still babies. One of them gets called “longboi” for a reason:
Take care of each other.
And I’ll see you back here soon. <3

Thank you for Absolute Wonder Woman, Kelly. It's amazing.
Ah man I must’ve just missed out on that Volume 2! Loved the little remark from the V1 trade - a great little surprise!
So glad your JJ is getting reprinted too - such a gem that was!! And who knows, maybe it’ll be adapted into a spinoff with her now that Ritter is back as the character. Can’t wait for more Diana and Z coming up - the WonderMagic crowd has been eating this up for sure 😅
