Breaking Hearts & Faces With The BIRDS OF PREY

(yeah, you read that right)

So this is my very big, very exciting announcement I’ve been teasing you guys with (and so big and serious that I changed all my social media icons and shit — SO SERIOUS!) — I’m writing the new BIRDS OF PREY at DC Comics - coming in Fall 2023.

And it’s not just that I’m writing it, but that it’s the old HAWKEYE team back together for more magic — Leonardo Romero drawing, Jordie Bellaire on colors, and I believe even Clayton Cowles (not team Hawkeye, but certainly team Captain Marvel!) joining us on letters.

Huge shout out to my editor Ben Abernathy, who built this beautiful beast with me and who when I asked for all my favorite characters just…SAID YES, LIKE A MADMAN.

What a book! What a creative team!

But what about the CHARACTERS?!

Well, we’ll be rolling out the rest of the team this week — one for each day — so keep your eyes peeled. There will also be a couple exclusive covers being revealed and maybe more? And then there will be additional information next week when the official solicit and covers are revealed.

It’s going to be a busy week but I’ve been waiting A LOOOOOONG time to talk about this, so I’m ready. And I hope you guys are too!

Anyway, I don’t want to overwhelm you guys with posts about this every day (since there will likely only be one image per announcement) — so what I’ll do is come back with a post on Wednesday that will be about lots of different things, including updating you on whatever Tuesday and Wednesdays BOP reveals there were and then I’ll do the same on Friday. Should get you all the information (and lots more) in just three posts, which feels more reasonable. And if you want to “know in real time” or whatever, just keep an eye on your socials where I’ll be posting all week.

Obviously I can’t confirm or deny, but I’d love to hear who you’re hoping to see (or expect to see? or both?) on our BIRDS OF PREY team in the comments.

I’ll offer ONE hint: You guys know I’m not just going to bring back an exact team that’s already existed, right?

In non-BIRDS OF PREY news, poll results show that you’re pretty interested in my STORYKILLER “Choose Your Own Adventure” story idea. About 90% of you voted you had a medium to high interest in the idea (and it was over 60% of you voting HIGH) — so I think that’s a great sign and I’m going to keep pushing forward on this.
