thanks again for running this! it’s been a lot of fun. i went with storm because i figured this will happen at the speed of thought. jean tries to take control of storm’s mind but can’t do it immediately due to her training to resist psychic attacks. storm calls down a lightning bolt during the attack. jean dies. while jean could certainly attempt other attacks such as using telekinesis, none are faster than lightning. now if we were talking phoenix rather than jean, i might have a different answer. also, i just like storm more (she’s been one of my favs since the 70s), so that gets factored in ;-)
I voted for Storm because she has a great regular name and a great code name.
“Nice to meet you, Jean Grey. You’re a X-Man, huh? Wow, that’s so exciting. What’s your superhero name?”
“Jean Grey.”
“Oh. Um. Cool.”
Also, thanks for doing this. Particularly now with *gestures at everything*. It truly is a nice break from the sorry state of things and a way to have fun, recharge, then get back into doing whatever we can.
The part of me that spent hours researching college alumni so I could make picks for my work’s March Madness bracket based on the coolest ones wishes I had thought of this logic
She was the original Marvel Girl! Guess that didn't stick (had their ever been a "Marvel Woman"? Either way, highlighting the poignant subject of the "boys club" they are still battling out from... hard to picture & impossible to enumerate the awesomeness we've missed out on, and still do, from not allowing non-white/non-male individuals equal opportunities from the get-go - come on! Anything a man can do a woman can do [better]!!!
Always a good day when I get another Jeff comic! Now that you said that about sound effects, I am scrutinizing all of them carefully. I do like the button word balloon that says “Press” even though I’m not sure it’s a sound effect or the button speaking.
And welcome Gustavo! They gave Jeff a big De Luca about eating everything in sight, chef’s kiss.
I love all the cameos, but who is the mysterious and talented Lemon-Head? Will they get their own strip soon?
Oh yeah, the war and all... Jean will win with telepathy, despite the raging storm and lightning all around her because Ororo will come out fighting. Great fight, possibly many VFX shots if You-Know-Phoenix shows up, but I love 'em both and how did we get to this. Also, redheads FTW.
These two are best friends. They are intellectually mature and are often driven by the things happening in their lives. Each fights more fiercely when there's something to protect, which might include protecting the other from themself. The other will also dial back if they feel the other has convincing points in their arguments.
So, yeah, Jean is the Phoenix, but Storm can be very convincing that whatever they are fighting over is wrong. That would eventually give her the upper hand. And Storm also has a less-often-used "ability" of tapping into "cosmic storms," which can throw in a lot of variables. This is one of the few fights where I can see it going either way.
Hey Kelly, I wanted to tell you that I got Jeanne Dielman vibes from “self-cleaning” with Gwen and the dishwasher. Very slow cinema (pronounced “cinemahhh”).

My thinking was much the same.

Ugh. That is so true. Jean needs another code name. Lover?
I like it! Phoenix is a super cool code name but it has a lot of baggage associated with it. Maybe Tucson?
What you did there, I am seeing it.
How about Ginger?
If Ginger was her code name in this X-Men War final round, I’d be more likely to ROOT for her.
Sorry-bye-sorry.
Kelly, help! Can't you unsubscribe him or something?
Hahahaha

I'm going based on how these two are today.

This final match up totally makes sense because these two women are probably the most over-powdered mutants in Marvel comics at the moment!
I agree that it could go either way, so I'm voting Storm as well just because I like her more.
Very true!
