Hey Everyone!
A huge thanks to all of you for Monday— and a big welcome to all you new subscribers! We’re excited to have you!
If any of you somehow missed Monday’s post - it was our big launch! ACTUAL BLACK CLOAK COMICS ARE HAPPENING - CHAPTER 1 IS LIVE - AND FREE TO ALL AT THIS FANCY LINK!
But the next chapter - at the end of this month - will be behind the paywall, so please consider subscribing if you like what you read yesterday — and like what you see here generally.
And if you’d like to know a little more about what we’re offering - including a peek of our other announced book so far - the forthcoming comic THE CULL with artist Mattia De Iulis — you can read our first post. And if you just want some quick info about what’s on offer for the different subscriber tiers — I made up this little cheat sheet:
Backing now at an annual or higher tier will still get you access to the two giveaways listed above (only the first giveaway entry has closed at this time).
And of course feel free to ask me any questions if you have them. We also have a little FAQ section here for you.
In that vein — of keeping the awesome content rolling — let’s not rest on our laurels here — let’s debut something else lovely — like Meredith McClaren’s illustration for the main cover to BLACK CLOAK #2:
Gorgeous! I’ve got some really great artists lined up for some Black Cloak #1 variant covers and I hope I’ll be announcing some of those later this month!
While we’re here I also wanted to take a moment and link to a couple interviews I did and some of the fantastic quotes we’ve gotten from some legendary pros over the past week. Obviously the whole team is over the moon with the response, but you should be too, because you all helped build this! THANK YOU!
Both CBR and NEWSARAMA both ran very nice interviews with some preview pages.
I have a quote or two in this nice write up from THE BEAT that covers lots of the great launches from Monday — both new comics and new creators coming to the platform.
And here’s some easy links to some of that amazing stuff that released yesterday — so click around and find some things you too will love!
Brian K. Vaughan and Nico Henrichon debuted the first few pages of an exciting (NSFW) project called SEARCHERS.
James Tynion IV and Gavin Fullerton debuted the first terrifiying chapter of THE CLOSET.
Mike del Mundo and Mike Huddleston absolutely kill it on these gorgeous and sometimes chilling RUINS pages for 3W/3M…and the writing ain’t bad either! ;D
Sophie Campbell’s stunning SHADOWEYES FOR GOOD dropped Chapter 1 in full!
Khary Randolph and Joanne Starer released a gorgeous teaser of their forthcoming SIRENS OF THE CITY.
Tom King and Elsa Charettier released a dazzling first installment of EVERLASTING LOVE.
Rodney Barnes and Maan House deliver a haunting first chapter in their Killdelphia spin-off 20 DEGREES PAST RIGOR
Chip Zdarsky continues to kill it, releasing one of my favorite new comics on this or ANY platform — PUBLIC DOMAIN! He also announces a cool MSX: MAGNASPLAINING EXTRA project - perfect for anyone that wants to learn more about Manga.
And of course Jen Bartel has got THE JEN BARTEL FAN CLUB…and I don’t know EXACTLY what that is…but where Bartel goes, so goes my nation. ;D
Okay. I’ve got to get back into the writing salt mines as I am way behind on basically everything. But thank you all again for an incredible “launch week.” Be good to each other and to yourself. <3
~Kelly
Hey Kelly, just wanted to say I've just read Captain Marvel #36 and I absolutely f@#king loved it, I mean LOVED it! What a belting end to great story. What with Black Widow #14 to read and you doing the next issue of Spider-Man and the not so small matter of the next issue of BLACK CLOAK!? It's a veritable Kelly fest and I just can't get enough! Keep up the stellar work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Damn, Kelly! The first issue of Black Cloak is so awesome! I’m all the way in on this. Can’t wait to read more. So happy that I got to read both you and Sophie’s releases on the same day. You ever think about turning The Girl Who Would be King into a comic or Storykillers? Looking forward to more!
