Black Cloak - Exclusive Look #1

With the BLACK CLOAK #7 release date fast approaching (in good stores everywhere and here and online 8/21/24!) we’ve got a bunch of cool stuff to show off. Especially because, when your story includes a five year gap between the shocking last page of issue 6 and the launching of issue 7… EVERYBODY GETS A TIME JUMP RE-DESIGN!

Unfortunately for Meredith (lots of work!) but a delight for all of you!

To make this a bit more fun, I’ve done little side by sides so you can see how much everyone has changed in the five year time skip

Also, we’ve done so much work and I have so much cool shit to show you that we’re going to break this up into multiple posts — and once we’ve gotten through all of those (three posts I think?) then we’ll do: CHARACTER GENERATOR GAME ROUND 2! — and that’s YOUR chance to get your character drawn into the book. Last year’s winner was Nicole and her “Nycila” who appeared in Black Cloak Volume 1 (and will also appear in Volume 2).

All right, let’s get to it! Obviously all designs by the incredible Meredith McClaren.

PHAEDRA ESSEX. Elf-Dracona Hybrid Class (Elfcona? Draclf?). Former Black Cloak, currently a scavenger, part-time P.I., and either savior or demon, depending on who you ask. Accompanied by Taka Theodore.

THERON II OF PAX. Fairy Class. Current Black Cloak.

BEANE II OF ALDEN. Bellweather Class. Rookie Black Cloak, partner of Pax.

And as a bonus, not exactly a new character, but the baby Taka we met at the end of Volume 1, has grown a bit, still retained his adorableness though.

Quick announcements!

All packages have been mailed! Even the cursed ones (Jamie, Chuck, even Daniel! It’s a miracle)!

I was going to do a paywall here with a link to the updated Webstore and a new discount code for paid backers… buuuut something is going on with Squarespace and I both cannot add the new issues of SCARLETT and BIRDS OF PREY I was trying to add, and I also cannot create new coupon codes. Fun!

So, assuming the site corrects shortly, I’ll include those for the next post. I WAS able to add the BIRDS OF PREY trades to the site before it… did whatever it did. So I have both the Standard Paperback Trades (Romero Cover) and a handful of the Target Exclusive Hardcover Trades (Nakayama Cover) in stock. Fair warning — the Target Exclusive Trades I will probably not be able to re-stock — so when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Oh. I’ve been doing some sketching for our long overdue contest winnings — so expect mass winnings shortly!
